Futures bought the dip. The credit market is still buying insurance.S&P 500 futures rose about 0.5% and Nasdaq 100 futures about 0.8% early Monday. That recovers only a fraction of Friday, when the S&P 500 had its worst day since June and the chip index fell 7.2%. The bounce walks straight into a test. Apple (AAPL) reports after the close, its first earnings report since John Ternus became CEO. Analysts expect about $1.99 a share on $113.4 billion of revenue. Palantir (PLTR) reports tonight, and AMD (AMD) follows Tuesday after an 11% drop on Friday. The deeper story sits in the bond market. Default protection on the biggest AI spenders is near records. Meta's (META) five-year swaps hit a record near 115 basis points in October. Nvidia's (NVDA) set one too, the Financial Times reported. The Signal Equity buyers came back for the bounce. Credit buyers never stopped paying for protection on the same names. This week's earnings get graded twice, once by the stock and once by the cost of insuring the bonds.
Oil slid after a weekend of talk. The ships are still getting hit.U.S. crude slipped under $100 overnight, and Brent fell about 4% to near $109. Brent rose 13.6% in October to a six-month high. The selling followed weekend diplomacy reports. Iran's negotiators left Doha on Sunday, and a draft proposal is circulating, an official said. Tehran says Hormuz could reopen within two days, but not while the U.S. naval blockade stands. President Trump pledged in October not to attack Iran before Tuesday's vote, though he later said a strike could come "maybe tomorrow." The physical risk moved the other way. UK maritime authorities said a tanker was struck by two projectiles 72 nautical miles east of Saudi Arabia's Ras Al Khafji on Sunday evening. That is the northern Gulf, far from the Hormuz chokepoint where most recent attacks were concentrated. Prediction markets barely flinched. Polymarket's U.S.-Iran ceasefire contract through Nov. 8 rose half a point to 74.5 cents. The Nov. 15 contract gained 1.5 points to 54 cents. Energy Signal Crude shed more than $4 after the diplomacy reports. The contracts that track whether the U.S. strikes hardly moved, because they had already priced a pause until the vote. Oil gave back a premium. The odds on what follows Tuesday stayed put.
The market kept the December hike. It trimmed what comes after.Futures still price about a 72% chance of a quarter-point Fed hike in December, and Kalshi's contract held at 71 cents. But total tightening priced over the cycle has fallen to about 55 basis points, from more than 70 a month ago. That softening came against the Fed's own hawks. Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan said Friday the Fed needs "at least two more" quarter-point increases. This week tests that bet. The ISM manufacturing survey lands today, with prices paid at 77.9 last month. October payrolls arrive Friday, with about 55,000 jobs expected after 29,000 in September. The midterms come tomorrow. Democratic Senate control traded at 74 cents on Kalshi and near 72.5 cents on Polymarket. A trade of 237,919 Kalshi contracts at 71 cents on Sunday evening, consistent with a single order, led the overnight move. Macro Signal Logan asked for at least two more hikes. Futures now price a little over two in total, down from nearly three a month ago. The market still expects December. The hawks' floor has become its ceiling.

Private credit is now writing checks that look like ownership.Blackstone (BX) credit and insurance funds and four Canadian pension investors agreed to buy 49.9% of the Mitsubishi company that holds its LNG Canada stake. Blackstone says $3.1 billion. Mitsubishi says about $1.6 billion. Neither release explains the gap. Mitsubishi keeps control and its full share of the gas. The deal is expected to close this month. Apollo (APO) opened a European lending company with more than €10 billion of capacity. Backers include the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, Athora, Norinchukin Bank and Standard Chartered. That is capacity, not cash raised, and Apollo hasn't said how much is equity. It reports results Tuesday. Capital Signal Two U.S. managers sent insurance and credit money abroad on the same morning. The seller kept control and every cargo. Even the price depends on whose release you read.
Binance graded its own reopening. The check customers can run themselves comes Tuesday.Customers pulled $4.65 billion and deposited $1.01 billion in the first nine and a half hours after withdrawals resumed Sunday, Binance said. That is a net outflow of about $3.64 billion, or 2.1% of its $171 billion in customer assets. DefiLlama's separate 24-hour count shows net outflows of about $5.8 billion. Binance says an updated reserves report comes today. The full zero-knowledge proof, which lets each customer check their own balance, is due by Tuesday. The stolen money is stirring. The attacker moved all 233.46 million stolen XRP, about $290 million, into new wallets late Sunday after roughly 80 hours idle. No sale has been seen so far. The 18,270 stolen bitcoin had not moved as of Sunday. THORChain, a route the thieves had used, remains halted on 10 of its 13 chains. Merchants got their own scare. BTCPay Server told every operator to shut down after reports that hot wallets were being swept. Hours later it narrowed the warning to versions 2.4.1 and older. Bitcoin traded near $77,800, about 3% above Strategy's (MSTR) average cost. The Verdict A 2.1% outflow looks orderly, but Binance chose both the window and the yardstick. Tuesday's proof is the first figure customers can check for themselves. The doors are open. The receipt is still pending.
